Tate McRae Fronts Her Debut TATE 01 Fragrance Campaign in Denim Shorts and a Black Bikini
Tate McRae fronts her debut fragrance TATE 01 in a Mario Sorrenti beach campaign, wearing denim shorts and a black bikini in Saint Barthélemy.
Tate McRae is bringing the beach to the fragrance aisle. The "Greedy" singer just launched her first perfume, TATE 01, and the campaign is wet, sun-soaked and very '90s.
Photographer Mario Sorrenti shot the images in Saint-Barthélemy, with sweeping natural landscapes as the backdrop. Tate keeps things simple and bare. In one frame, she poses by the water in tiny faded jean shorts, then she switches into a little black bikini for the shots on the sand. Her hair is wet and slicked back, her makeup is minimal and her skin has a natural glow.
The mood comes from Tate's love of supermodels. She told Who What Wear that Gisele Bündchen, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer were her references, because she sees them as timeless and feminine. You can feel that in the pictures, which skip heavy styling for effortless, sensual poses.
The fragrance is an eau de parfum made with Scent Beauty and Givaudan perfumers Adriana Medina and Antoine Maisondieu. It's designed to feel like a "second skin." It opens with sparkling bergamot and clary sage, moves through orange flower and a soft floral center, and settles into moss, creamy tonka and a warm amber-like base. Tate says it's her favorite to wear during rehearsals, because it warms up as she moves.
TATE 01 went on sale October 1 on tatebytm.com, with sizes priced from $30 to $82. Ulta Beauty will carry it online on October 16 and in stores on October 25. Tate shared the first photos on Instagram with her 10 million followers, crediting Sorrenti in the caption.
The launch adds a new job to her résumé. In recent weeks she has fronted a Calvin Klein denim campaign and sat front row in Paris in an ivory satin Schiaparelli two-piece.
