Tate McRae Covers W Magazine’s “The New Originals” Issue in Hermès, Chloé, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci
Tate McRae covers W Magazine’s The New Originals issue, shot by Juergen Teller in Hermès, Chloé, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci looks.
Tate McRae is on the cover of W Magazine’s “The New Originals” issue, and she is hanging off scaffolding for it. Juergen Teller shot the story, Sara Moonves styled it, and it has his usual loose, slightly offbeat energy. The digital story went live on October 13, and the print issue arrives October 27.
The cover look is a teal sequin Hermès Resort 2027 jumpsuit with pleated, flared legs, worn with black Christian Louboutin pumps. Her honey-blonde hair stays long and loose in waves throughout the shoot, so the sparkle does most of the talking.
Inside, the looks get more playful. A lace-trimmed light-blue Chloé Fall/Winter 2026 shirt goes with red leather pants, a silver horse-shaped belt buckle and tan shearling-cuffed boots, shot in front of a carnival ride. The softer moment is a sheer black floral Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2026 midi dress with puff sleeves, styled with a matching bralette and briefs and more Louboutins, posed beside a utility van. There is also a navy double-breasted blazer with gold buttons and black knee-high boots from Gucci’s 2027 Cruise collection, plus a shearling-collar Fendi men’s jacket. If you want more of her recent style, check out Tate McRae in a white Saint Laurent slip dress at Chez Margaux.
The accompanying cover story, written by Alex Hawgood, centers on that viral Lollapalooza closing set in Chicago, where she rose out of a gold bath. She told W she usually blacks out onstage, but “something comes through” her, and that she only gets “one chance to do this correctly.” She also called being a pop singer “the craziest, most overwhelming experience ever” and said you have to make a conscious effort not to turn into “the worst person ever.”
She addressed the backlash to her Morgan Wallen duet “What I Want,” her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1. “It’s crazy to think that one song could define a whole person,” she said. On her October 18 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show performance, she put it simply: “my body is the costume.” The piece also mentions her TATE 01 fragrance, which you can see in her debut campaign shot by Mario Sorrenti.
