Healthy Habits to Develop in Your 30s

Your 30s are a decade full of fun, family and excitement. However, it is also often the time when some people begin to feel “old.” Maybe your body doesn’t quite work like it did when you were 23, or you find yourself needing more and more sleep to feel rested than you did only a few short years ago.

While your 30s is far from old, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start prioritizing your health. The more healthy habits you develop now, the easier they will be to maintain and keep up with as you age. With that in mind, this article is going to go over a few healthy habits you need to be sure to develop in your 30s.

More Frequent Doctor Visits

As we age, our bodies start to deteriorate. This is very gradual in most cases, a little bit of back pain here and there or some slightly worsening vision. However, it is something all of us need to keep an eye on. As a result, as you begin to age, it is important to start visiting the doctor more frequently.

Now, this doesn’t mean you should go to the doctor for every little thing, but having regular checkups and having things like your blood pressure checked is always a good idea. The same goes for people like your dentist and optometrist. While these types of visits can be a hassle, they are important to ensure you are healthy going forward and can catch small issues before they become big problems. You also make more frequent visits to the general dentist in newmarket ON for regular check-ups on your oral health.

Of course, be sure that you familiarize yourself with affordable Health Insurance plans in your area so you can use these services without hurting yourself financially.

Watch What You Eat

Your diet is always important, but this is more true as you age. Your food directly contributes to how you look, how you feel, how your body works and how healthy you are. While younger people can often get away with terrible diets due to higher metabolism, this is hardly ever the case for people in their 30s.

You should be eating a balanced diet, rich in vitamins and nutrients and featuring food from the major food groups. Try to avoid things like sugar and processed foods, or at least limit your consumption. Making a diet change can be hard, but once you turn your new eating choices into a habit, it can become much easier.

Get Moving

Staying active is another very important part of being a healthy adult. Unfortunately, with many of us leading fairly sedentary lifestyles, many of us get much less physical activity than we should. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), adults should be doing at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activities every week.

This can be swimming, biking, running, walking, lifting weights, yoga or any number of other activities. Of course, be sure to listen to your body when working out or exercising. Be sure to only do things you are comfortable with and can handle. While some people will feel comfortable doing olympic lifts, others might be more at home going for a jog. No matter what sort of exercise you are doing, it is better for you than sitting on the couch.

Find Ways to Relax and De-Stress

Your 30s can often be a stressful time. Between your career, your family, your hobbies and your social life, there are hardly enough hours in the day. Stress can be terrible for your mood, your health and your general wellbeing. As a result, it is important to develop a bit of a self-care routine as soon as possible.

You need to find ways to escape your busy life with a bit of relaxation. This could be through meditation, reading a good book, relaxing in a bath or listening to music. These can help keep you calm, reduce your stress and generally be a happier and healthier person in your 30s.

While you are still young in your 30s, they are the perfect time to begin developing healthy habits that can provide you plenty of benefits both now and later in life. By going to the doctor more often, watching what you eat, exercising often and finding ways to relax, you can ensure your 30s are a healthy decade.
